As a Special Counsel in the Insurance Division, Megan brings over 15 years of experience as a defendant insurance litigation lawyer, specialising in public liability, professional indemnity, contractual and indemnity disputes, and product liability.

Her experience spans a diverse range of industries, including retail, energy, mining, construction, labour hire, aviation, real estate and property management. 

Megan specialises in defending personal injury claims made pursuant to the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002 (Qld) and Civil Liability Act 2003 (Qld) on behalf of major insurers and self-insured corporations. She provides timely and strategic advice on all aspects of litigated and non-litigated claims including liability, quantum, and evidence, as well as a range of insurance issues, including policy coverage and risk management. Megan consistently achieves commercial outcomes for her clients through early negotiations, settlement conferences and mediations.

Admitted as a solicitor in 2008, Megan holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce from Griffith University.

Slipping-up on the facts (again) – Macari v Snack Brands Foods Pty Ltd [2024] NSWCA 282

A recent decision by the NSW Court of Appeal upheld the principle that the plaintiff bears the onus of establishing the cause of his accident. In circumstances where the plaintiff is unable to establish this cause on the basis of the evidence available, the defendant cannot be presumed liable for the incident simply by the mere fact that it occurred.
