Our Pro Bono Work

Our pro bono program helps our local and global community, especially marginalised and disadvantaged groups. We offer legal services, fundraising, and board member support to partner organisations.

Our flexible approach includes volunteering at law centres, providing legal assistance to the vulnerable, and accepting referrals for legal matters. Our passionate staff use their expertise to make a difference.

Community Legal Centres We Support

Redfern Legal Centre

The RLC was the first community legal centre established in New South Wales. The Centre provides free and confidential legal advice and casework, delivering community legal education, and law reform.

The Grace Centre for Newborn Care - Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation

The Grace Centre for Newborn Care is a specialised unit at The Children's Hospital at Westmead which treats more than 600 critically ill newborns with complex medical conditions, some as young as 23 weeks gestation. McCabes Lawyers has been a proud supporter of Grace since 2006. Since that time, our staff have participated in several fundraising initiatives including Radiothon, Race for Grace and the Grace Gala.

Law Firms Encouraging and Assisting Promising Students (LEAPS)

The LEAPS Program is a school student workplace mentoring program, where students facing learning disruptions receive mentorship from a legal practitioner from McCabes. During the year, the LEAPS students attend our office where they meet with their assigned McCabes Lawyers mentor and discuss topics including peer pressure, dealing with stress, cyberbullying, conflict resolution, and career choices.

Minds Count Foundation

Minds Count Foundation is an independent, volunteer-run, charitable organisation with the objective of promoting workplace psychological health and safety in the legal community. McCabes regularly acts as a supporting sponsor for the Minds Count Annual Lecture, which addresses critical mental health topics, systemic challenges, and wellbeing in legal practice.

Cancer Council Australia

Cancer Council is Australia’s leading cancer charity, supporting cancer research, prevention and patient services. McCabes partners with Cancer Council NSW to provide free or supported will-writing services to the community and patients. Our law graduates also coordinate Australia’s annual Biggest Morning Tea across our offices, helping raise funds for cancer research, prevention initiatives and support services for Australians affected by cancer.
