Jackson advises on all aspects of workers' compensation and personal injury claims in WA and in the NT. He is well regarded for his ability to provide considered, timely and strategic advice on all types of matters including catastrophic (including fatality) claims and common law claims and for quickly developing a good understanding of the commercial needs of his insurer and employer clients.
Jackson has provided advice and appeared as Counsel in various jurisdictions including Magistrates' Court, District Court, Supreme Court and WorkCover WA. In particular, he often appears as Counsel in Arbitration Hearings at WorkCover WA and has appeared for Insureds in Appeal proceedings in the District Court.
In addition to his advocacy, Jackson provides specific advice on all aspects of workers compensation claims including liability, statutory recovery and disputes between insurers, as well as providing sound and commercial settlement advice. He has also provided advice to insurers regarding indemnity and liability of third parties resulting from principal indemnity policies.
Jackson is also well regarded for presenting and providing training to various employers and insurers about current issues and trends affecting workers' compensation issues in Western Australia.
Jackson has represented and provided advice to Local Governments both in respect of workers' compensation claims and volunteer bush fire fighter claims and has been invited to provide submissions with respect to amendments to the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1995 and Bush Fires Act 1952 (WA), both of which incorporate the provisions of the WCIM Act for volunteer fire fighters
Jackson has provided Pro-Bono assistance to the RSPCA in prosecuting several animal cruelty cases in the Magistrate's Court of Western Australia.
