About

Karl is a senior practitioner and principal, with over 13 years' experience working in defendant insurance and government practices.

Karl's practice covers all types of claims including work injury damages, multi-party, and section 151Z recoveries, physical and psychological injuries, industrial deafness, and fraud.

Karl has previously been seconded to icare in the litigation and dispute resolution team for 10 months and to a NSW Government Agency for eight months, which has allowed him to gain an intimate understanding of the internal demands clients face and their business drivers. He utilises his legal knowledge and his in-house experience to deliver high quality strategic service and advice to clients.

Karl's unique experience gives him an advantage in understanding and identifying core issues‚ in considering the 'big picture' and providing a commercial approach to obtain optimum results for clients.

Karl has significant experience in defending general and catastrophic claims in the NSW Personal Injury Commission, District Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.

Karl is heavily involved with mentoring junior team members and has provided large scale in-house training across all claims for insurers and their insureds with a particular focus on psychological injuries, systemic claims, conflict management, and return to work. He obtained a Mental Health First Aid accreditation, completed a Practice Management Course, and is a member of the firm's Work Health & Safety committee.

Karl is recognised by Doyle's Guide (2023) as a Leading Defendant Workers Compensation Lawyer.
