Richard Chew

Richard is an experienced commercial and technology lawyer. He specialises in outsourcing, IT and commercial telecommunications arrangements, technology and IP commercialisation, strategic procurement and sourcing, vendor management and negotiated company and business mergers and acquisitions across a range of industries.

In addition to working with clients on their commercial transactions in Australia, he has detailed experience working with clients in the Asia Pacific region, including China, Thailand and India.

Richard brings detailed experience in the technology and telecommunications sector, including practical industry experience. Richard was previously the Head of Systems and Development for Telstra Internet and Head of Online Solutions for REACH (Telstra’s joint venture with PCCW), and has managed development teams and technology delivery projects on a global basis.

Richard brings proven expertise to support clients on commercial telecommunications transactions, major outsourcing, procurement (commercial and government), IT disputes and settlements, technology and IP commercialisation, private corporate support (in the SME sector) and M&A transactions.

He has acted on some of the largest outsourcing transactions in Australia (eg., a 10 year, $1 billion telecommunications outsourcing with a major bank) and in the Asia Pacific region (eg., a major business process outsourcing by a major bank to a NASDAQ listed supplier in India). He has also acted on some of the largest business critical IT transactions in Australia and the Asia Pacific region (eg., a core-banking system replacement project and outsourcing services for two major Thai banks and a POS system replacement for a major Australian retailer).
