About

As a Special Counsel in the Employment, Workplace Relations & Safety group, Barnaby is an employment and industrial relations specialist.

He enjoys forming strong working relationships with clients, to build mutual trust and confidence and therefore enable the broader perspectives to emerge. As such, clients find him accessible and easy to engage, with a hands-on approach that is user friendly and commercially focused.

Barnaby is focused on advising clients in numerous sectors regarding day-to-day legal employment matters, conducting workplace investigations, and supporting clients on complex employment issues in corporate transactions.

Barnaby is admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia, and frequently represents clients in successfully resolving employment-related and discrimination disputes. In addition, Barnaby has extensive experience and a keen interest in industrial relations.

Outside his day job, Barnaby is a proud husband and father of three, and enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle with his family on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

Closing Loopholes (No 2)

On 26 February 2024, the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes No. 2) Act 2024 received royal assent, legislating additional changes to the Fair Work Act 2009. This comes after recent changes were made on 15 December 2023, under the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes) Act 2023.
