Tim Coghlan

Tim is a litigation and insurance specialist with extensive experience across Victoria, regularly acting for major insurers and public sector clients.

Tim's practice spans a broad range of industries - building and construction, retail, healthcare, logistics, commercial and private property. He has significant experience in defending public liability claims in the Victorian Supreme and County Court.

He has acted in various property damage claims including claims pursued at VCAT under the Water Act 1989 (Vic), fire claims involving the identification of the origin and cause and reviewing and advising on complex expert evidence. Tim has extensive experience in advising on claims pursued under the Australian Consumer Law, both for suppliers and manufacturers.

Tim has also acted extensively in the defence of Victorian worker to worker claims involving injuries on work sites and catastrophic injuries arising during the course of employment, often also defending recovery actions pursued by the Victorian WorkCover Authority.

Tim acts in aviation related claims and is a Council Member for the Aviation Law Association of Australia and New Zealand and sits on their Victorian branch. He also appears in Coronial Inquests.

Tim is known for his significant experience in managing complex and high end value disputes and providing strategically and commercially focused advice to his clients.
